Mention Me- Referrals. Mention Me is a 3rd party service provider who will place functional cookies if the consumer interacts with our ‘refer-a-friend’ programme. For more information regarding what those cookies are and why they are used please visit their privacy policy at https://mention-me.com/help/privacy_policy_s#cookies
The cookies / tags placed during the referral process give the ability to:
Identify a unique browser in our referral flow. This is used to prevent fraudulent use of the referral programme;
Support customers clicking on share links and being successfully redirected to the right landing page (if that feature is used)
Allow site visitors to close pop-ups/corner peels displayed on the site, to prevent a dissatisfactory browsing experience;
Ensure that where there is more than one possible offer, a returning site visitor isn’t shown a different offer each time.
These are all “strictly necessary” for the referral programme to function effectively. As such, consent is not required under either PECR or GDPR.
The same is true in terms of Mention Me’s processing of personal data during the provision of the programme: Mention Me acts as a data processor, under our instructions and on the basis of legitimate interests, not consent.
